Efrei: the School, Its Programs and Its Values

Efrei, founded in 1936, is an engineering school specialized in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Every year, the school grants up to 300 Master of Engineering degrees.

Located in France’s financial capital, Efrei works in close partnership with a large number of companies, helping to meet both the academic and professional goals of roughly 1,200 students. Now with more than 7,000 alumni engineers working in France and internationally, Efrei is highly placed among the rankings of human resources departments of large companies and recruiting agencies.

Efrei is a member of the “Conference des Grandes Ecoles(CGE) and has been approved by the “Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur, the only official accrediting body in France, to award a Master of Engineering degrees since 1957.

The average salary for Efrei graduates from the class of 2011 is at €38,700 annually.

 

Engineering Talent

From André Truong (class of 1959), the co-inventor of the first ever microprocessor to Rani Assaf (class of 1997), one of the minds behind the Freebox (an ADSL modem offered by the French telecommunication provider Free), a number of Efrei engineers have taken their place in the history of ICT. 

Today, young graduates from Efrei continue to play an innovative role in the in the field of ICT. Such notable alumni include: Adrien Touati (class of 2009), founder of GoProd, well-known for its many remarkable applications; Arnaud Meunier (class of 2006), developer of the Twitoaster app which was showcased in a 2009 New York Times article; Mathieu Nebra (class of 2008), creator of the renowned IT website Site du Zéro; and Thomas Albisser and Romain Vailleux (class of 2009), founders of the green IT company Hop-Cube.

Efrei’s goal is to produce well-rounded and responsible engineers who are ready to meet current commercial ICT demands. Beyond its focus on ICT, Efrei sets itself apart by providing students with a balanced blend of general training that includes communication, general culture, business management, entrepreneurship and foreign languages. Furthermore, Efrei works with and continues to develop international partnerships with universities and companies, creating academic and professional opportunities for its students.

Involvement in community work occupies a special place at Efrei and is a highly recommended addition to students’ academic studies because of its ability to reinforce the 6 key values fostered by the school: high standards, agility, creativity, boldness, accessibility and solidarity.
